FPO

27 July, 2009

Tomorrow is the day I fly out to Richmond for Field Personnel Orientation!

I am probably more nervous about this than I will be about getting to the field. But I am very excited nonetheless. I will have to get up early unfortunately, seeing as I have to write a paper sometime between now and then. (It’s only two pages, and I am a procrastination pirate when it comes to papers).

The good Lord is such a Good Lord, and I am really looking forward to the things I will be learning over the next 8 weeks. I will be missing my friends, but fortunately I got to see a lot of yall in the last few days in Auburn and in Birmingham. This verse is true both for where I have been in the last few weeks, and where I will be in the next few weeks:

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12.1-2

I am so blessed to have so many partners in prayer, and the Lord’s work will be carried out more readily because of your prayers. He is already doing a work beyond my imagination in the DRCongo, and I am looking forward to just being a part of that. Joining Tyler and Jennifer, Rusty and Debbie, I am honored to be in such a great cloud of witnesses. All of you friends and partners back home are a great cloud of witnesses also, and so are the people that will be working with us in Richmond during FPO. The Lord is sovereign in His leading of His people, and His will is good, pleasing, and perfect. I trust in nothing but Him. Anything else will quickly lead to my folly.

So thank you all for your prayers and supplications for the DRC and myself. Tomorrow at 8:10 AM the adventure begins!
