What He’s Here To Do

28 March, 2010

The ten essential elements of a church planting movement are:

1.  Prayer
2. Scriptural Authority
3.  Abundant Gospel Sowing
4.  Intentional Church Planting
5.  Local Leadership
6.  Lay Leadership
7.  House/Cell Churches
8.  Churches Planting Churches
9.  Rapid Reproduction
10.  Strong, Healthy Churches

Oh how I fail at some of these.  Good thing it’s God that is the “He” that is here to do it, not me.  I’m just one of the ones He’s using to do it.  What is your role in God’s work here to start a Church Planting Movement?

PRAYER

Matthew_9.36-38
Acts_4.23-31

Colossians_1.3-14
I_Thessalonians_5.12-28 (esp 17&25)

Jude_20-21
Acts_29

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances…Brothers, pray for us.”

There may come a time when your responsibility in this movement changes from just prayer to participating in Abundant Gospel Sowing, as it did for our Lakeview friends last week.  Know that through prayer, the impact that the team had (in just one week) could be the impetus needed for mass-multiplication to begin.  Also know that I will rejoice greatly if you are able to come and are willing to be used by God in something as big as what He plans to do here.

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
-The Last Commission of Jesus

You can fulfill your role in this Church Planting Movement every day.  In doing so, pray for me to do the same, because I am quite a failure without the power of the Holy Spirit.
